The value of every diamond is determined by the 4Cs — developed by GIA. Learn what makes your diamond valuable.
Cut is the most critical factor in a diamond’s beauty and value. It refers to how well its facets interact with light — not the shape. A well-cut diamond displays exceptional brilliance, fire, and scintillation.
GIA grades cut from Excellent to Poor. Even a diamond with perfect color and clarity can appear dull if poorly cut.
Diamond color refers to the absence of color. GIA’s scale: D (colorless, most valuable) to Z (light yellow/brown). D-F colorless, G-J near colorless, K-M faint, N-Z light.
Clarity measures inclusions (internal) and blemishes (external). Fewer = higher grade and value. GIA has 11 grades from FL to I3.
One carat = 0.2 grams. Prices increase exponentially. "Magic sizes" (0.50, 1.00, 1.50, 2.00, 3.00, 5.00ct) see disproportionate price jumps.
Round brilliant is the most popular and valuable cut, representing over 75% of all diamonds sold. Fancy shapes offer unique aesthetics and can provide excellent value at larger carat weights.
Fancy colored diamonds are entirely different from the D-Z scale. These rare gems are among the rarest on Earth.

A certificate is an independent lab assessment verifying the 4Cs. Certification verifies quality; it doesn’t determine value. We accept diamonds with and without certification.
